Laundry

So one of the good things about doing laundry at school, is that there is multiple washing machines & Dryers. So usually you can get it done on the quick.

well..... I am not so lucky.

Washier #1: does not accept coins at the moment... it is on a quarter strike.

Washier #2: has grown lazy and it's rebelling by not going through the spin cycle. This is more cruel than the first dryer because you believe that everything is normal until you remove your clothes and find them soaking wet, which causes you to spend extra money to dry them longer..... while it laughs at you from across the room as you throw them into the dryer.

Washer #3: Works... it has formed sympathy for you and has decided to cooperate..... but who knows how long that will last, seeing as it is the lone machine used by multiple college students.

Now at this moment in time the dryers are all working, which is just grand seeing as you can still only wash one load at a time.

Believe me: I started laundry at like 10 and it is now 1am and still have a load drying....... thank goodness my first class doesn't start until 11am.

On a good note: I got to talk with my RA (to complain about mentioned washers) and her name is Sara and she is AWESOME:) we planned a card game night next week for the girls and guys on our floor. So that will be something to look forward too.

FREE STUFF:)

Today was the college fair... and I made out like a bandit!!! It was hot but worth it, I walked around with Jenny and we got an awesome hamburger with chips and a drink for 2 bucks. We got tons of pampletes and listened to lots of sales pitches. But it was tons of fun. They had live music and the band was awesome.

All in all it makes me happy on these days that I get a chance to go to college and live on campus. I know my age gets me down sometimes, but this is a great time of my life, no matter how old I am!!!

Resurrection of the Bllog

So....yeah.... my blog might be a little mad because I may have been neglecting it for the past couple of months. But I have told various dedicated followers that I would resume my blogging duties with the start of a new school year.

So, instead of giving many excuses for my absence I will instead start on with a new post about my AWESOME new dorm.

I liked my dorm last semester. It satisfied my needs, and gave me a place to sleep. But this dorm is like a Marriott compared to a Motel 6 in the bad part of town. I am now in Arlington Hall (A Hall). The location is closer to the buildings on campus, right next to the cafeteria, and again soooo much nicer inside. It is bigger and has much more surface space and closet space. So far I LOVE it. And I don't think I will have a big problem sleeping because the AC actually works here.

My roommate's name is Caitlyn, and we have gotten to know each other a little bit today as she unpacked her stuff, I have a feeling we will get along well this semester. She is a biology major, so I know the tough classes she will be taking.

I am excited about my classes this semester, I will actually get to take some classes for my Social Work Major. Anthropology, Social Work human behavior, Social Work Practice 1, Economics for Non-business majors and well Spanish 2, not so much excited about that one.

On a different note: You can now rent school books. Which is sooooo much cheaper!!!! I got one book for almost $70 cheaper, and I just have to give it back at the end of the semester. For anyone who has bought college books before knows how awesome this is!!!!

And now Pictures of my new crib:)

This just cracked me up!!

But of course I am nothing like this:P

The Longer You Procrastinate

Amount of work you plan to get done later
Amount of work you actually do later
Time left
Urgency
Population of doodletown
Willingness to bullsh*t just to fill up space

So Strange and So True....(I really wish it wasn't though)

So I go to lunch today, simply enough. I was in the mood for just a simply hamburger and some fries. I retrieved my food from the counter and found a table to enjoy the juicy burger in front of me.
I set my food down and my book bag, and turned back to get a drink.
You must have a nice beverage to wash down the fries.
As I was headed back to my table I saw a man leaning over my stuff.
I immediately thought he was taking my food to the trash thinking someone had left it.
I thought this was strange because it was a full plate of food, but still I called after him to
assure him that I had every intent to consume every morsel.
So as I head toward him ( I wasn't that far) calling:
"Sir!!,No Sir!!!"
He turns to me, with MY hamburger in his hands chewing the bite he had just bitten off.
!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
WHAT!!!!!!!!!
I stopped dead strictly from shock.
He looked like a dear in the headlights. I realize this was a older Asian guy that worked in the cafeteria, and I had passed him on the way to my table, while he sat at another table finishing what looked like was his lunch.
So why was he eating MY lunch????
After the most awkward 3 seconds of staring at each other he put the hamburger back on my plate!?!
I kinda curled my lip and told him... no thanks he could have it, I would get another.
I really could not tell if he was embarrassed or not, but he picked it up and walked away.
He came back a couple of minutes later and said sorry without really looking at me.
Suddenly the hamburger didn't seem as yummy as it had at first.

I still can't believe it all happened. I mean really what situation would that seem right?

I called a friend to tell her and she asked seriously if I was that bored that I had to make up stories to entertain myself.

I really wish that I could have made this up, but sadly I didn't.

So who knows I may end up eating like I have been in jail for a semester, lets hope I can get through today without random people eating food off my plate.

Twilight Party

So I love Twilight. I kinda feel like a 14 year old girl obsessed with it. It is a guilty pleasure that I am sadly not feeling guilty about yet.  I never read the books, but probably will now.  Which will be crazy because I have never been able to read a book after watching the movie. But this story line appeals to me big time. I know the movie has its shortcomings, Like the actress that plays Bella has this really annoying stuttering thing going on the whole movie.... I could do with out that. And you can tell it is not the most "Hollywood" of movies, but I think I like it that way better. I sill love it though.

Anyway. I went to babysit my wonderful nieces and nephew this weekend. And because I had to find any excuse to watch the movie again I decided to have a Twilight party with them.
It was FUN!!!!

I let Benjamin, Ella and Maiya make a "B" and "E" out of pepperonis on two pizzas. One for Edward and one for Bella. And then we consumed them with the appetite of a vampire.

And of course we had to wear our Twilight pins to show our dedication!!!

The best part was......... We got to Twi-Dye t-shirts.  I have wanted to tye-dye.... oops I mean twi-dye for a while now, and it was fun to get the kids involved and do it with them. Here are the results.

Ella's Shirt: It says "Edward + Bella"  "Twilight"

My Shirt says Twilight

Maiya's Shirt says Twilight as well.

And Benjamin's says : "Team James"   "Twilight"
Of course Benjamin liked the "bad" vampires of the movie. His reaction at the end of the movie.
" I like the baseball and the fight scene, but I could have done without all that talking."

Maiya fell asleep pretty early in the film, but watched it will Ella the next morning. I think she like it. She was very concerned about Bella and the end, but seemed to zone out for most of the movie.

Ella and I of course loved it, and think Edward is a major hottie!!! But all in all it was just great to spend time with my little children that call my sister mom. I have missed them while being away at school.

Now I am just wondering how often Janie is gonna let them wear their shirts. I didn't get to see them on them before I had to leave because the words were still drying.  Hopefully I will see them soon.

BTW: For any of you who care... or who love music or even Twilight for that matter: Robert Pattinson(who plays Edward) sings two of the songs on the soundtrack and they are amazing.  "Never think" is my favorite and the other is " Let me Sign"

Graduation????

I know this day will come.... BUT.... right this moment it feels like a million miles away. I just looked over my degree audit, and started making a schedule for next fall. And it just all hit me....

have

long

way

to

go.

As my mother likes to say: If it were easy everyone would have a degree.

And this all makes me think of a story by Robert Hastings that my sister once gave me called "The Station" if you have never read it you should check it out here
